Formentera's beautiful water and stunning coastline lets every boaters heart miss a beat. Charter a yacht in Ibiza and visit this heavenly island from the sea. Most people travel to Formentera from Ibiza port by ferry. The smoother and nicer way is to charter a private yacht and explore the island in pure tranquility. Formentera has many beautiful beaches that invite for a relaxing day under the sun. Our favourite beaches are:
Playa de Migjorn
Playa Migjorn is a breathtaking beautiful beach situated in Formentera's south. A long beach strech with various beach bars and restaurants make this beach the perfect place to spend a boating day with your family or friends. If you are on a week charter in Ibiza and are visiting Formentera for several days, spend a night here and go for a morning walk along this stunning beach - you won't regret it! ;-)
Playa Es Pujols
Playa Es Pujols is probably the most urban beach on Formentera. Located just by a resort town Playa Es Pujols is always well attended during the summer months and a must if you are into water sports. The beach itself is surrounded by soft white sanddunes and its turquoise waters make it just another picture-perfect place on this island.
On the west side of the island lies a stunning cove called Cala Saona. This beach is picture perfect and a great destination for everyone visiting Formentera by boat. The beach is surrounded by a few fishermen huts and red cliffs and the perfect place to spend a relaxing day away from all the hustle. Thanks to the crystalline water Cala Saona is a fantastic place for snorkelling. When visiting this beach, make sure to stay for the sunset. It is one of the best you will see in your life!
Playa Illetas is often named as one of the best beaches in Europe. Endless shades of blue, white sand dunes and its laid back atmosphere make this place a true paradise. Even though Playa Illetas is one of the busiest beaches on the island, it maintains an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. Along the beach there are a few restaurants that offer delicious sea food and make the perfect lunch spot for a boating day.
Other things to do on Formentera
Formentera is the ultimate beach destination. Apart from amazing beaches and coves, the island offers many rural tracks that can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Most towns, as well as the port of Formentera offer bike rentals for a few euros. Grab your bike and head to the La Mola lighthouse on the most eastern point of the island. Your little workout will be rewarded with amazing views over breathtaking cliffs and endless blue water.
If you are visiting the lighthouse on a Wednesday or Sunday, between May and October don't miss out on the Hippy Market located in Pilar de la Mola. Stroll around the stands, that offer local products, art and vintage items and enjoy the bohemian atmosphere.
Formentera the rural and Ibiza the glamorous - both so close and yet so far. Enjoy the peace in Formentera one last time, before it's time to sail back to Ibiza, where most of our Ibiza yacht charters are located.
